Quilt Frame

We had been collection books as we read them over the years and we were running out of space in the house. About this time, Nancy, who had started to learn quilting, discover an old, actually antique, king-size quilting frame hanging from the basement ceiling of her parents’ house in Maryville, Missouri. As it turned out it was built by the brother of Nancy’s Great-Great-Grandmother who was also Nancy’s namesake, Nancy Ellen Bond Hughes. The frame was over 150 years old, made all of wood, and in four pieces, two inverted ‘U’ shaped frame with holes for inserting long roller poles with a cog mechanism for tightening material that was rolled onto the poles. We carried the poles tied on top of the Cadillac all the way back to Mississippi.
